Jungo Ltd,. a leading provider of high-quality connectivity software, today announced the expansion of its Automotive Connectivity Middleware to support Android-based mobile handsets and tablets. With extended support for Android mobile devices, Jungo’s Automotive Connectivity Middleware provides enhanced functionality in three areas: connectivity, multimedia and phone management.

The middleware’s connectivity support includes the ability to manage Android devices, which support Wireless digital video/audio content sharing for streaming content within the vehicle and tightly-coupled communication with Android smartphones over the AOAP protocol. In addition, support for various mirroring technologies – to mirror Android-based devices screen in the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) display - are pre-integrated in the middleware.

The Jungo Automotive Connectivity Middleware multimedia engine supports file management capabilities, including the scanning, indexing, browsing and streaming of audio and video files from multiple Android devices and other sources connected to the IVI system.

Introducing the enhanced middleware, Jungo General Manager Connectivity Ophir Herbst said: “Jungo’s Automotive Connectivity Middleware was designed to support the needs of IVI manufacturers to connect to any device over any protocol and for any application” he added “Extending the middleware to support any Android based smartphone and tablet over any protocol enables IVI manufacturers to bring the latest consumer technologies into the car and extend the associated user experience.”
